Rockfish comes to Exeter

Rockfish is set to open its sixth restaurant in Exeter Quays this winter, just a short train journey from the Exmouth branch.

The new restaurant at Exeter will be a single storey glass building with a green wild garden on the roof and windows overlooking the river. These can be opened up during the summer months but there will also be a separate outdoor terrace for dining.

What both the Exeter and Exmouth branches will have in common is their immediate surroundings- beautiful bodies of water. Whilst customers at Rockfish in Exmouth can gaze out to the beach’s peaceful waters as they dive in to their meals, those at Exeter will be able to soak in the serenity of the nearby River Exe.

It all started in 2010, when the first restaurant was launched. The fresh, sustainable and locally sourced fish on offer at all Rockfish destinations since then has become a huge hit along the southern coast of the UK. The man behind it all is Mitch Tonks, a chef and author who himself grew up on the coast, in Weston-super-Mare, where his love of seafood began at an early age.

Now critically acclaimed for both his restaurants and books, he is a menu engineer for some big names, including Hawksmoor in London, and a compelling voice for sustainability in the South West.
